Looks like Google falls further behind as they fail to properly design and update newer iterations of Pixel phones. Rather than have a superior TSMC chip within the next 13 months, which would have a higher quality manufacturing process and significantly reduce power consumption, it looks like it’ll be closer to 25 months if we’re lucky.
As a Pixel 7 Pro user, I love my phone, but can’t help but to want a more efficient chip with higher expectations of the battery life a TSMC chip would have.
I originally planned on getting a Pixel 9 with this in mind, but it looks like the earliest we may be getting a Pixel with this chip will be in 2025 on the release of Pixel 10.
So much for sticking with odd-numbered phones!
That’s why as a P6P user, this is my last pixel for a while.
Have my eye on the One Plus phone that’s coming out early 24’ for now.
I don’t have faith in Google to keep the spyware bloat down, battery consumption down, overheating down, or add a higher quality display for outdoor use.
At this point the Pixel is 2 years behind the competition.
As a former One Plus owner… don’t bother. They’re not what they used to be.
Shit, I had no idea where did they go astray in your opinion.
The proprietary charging tech sucks. They’ve been absorbed back into their parent company to the most part.
Dude I have less faith in OnePlus. If anything I think the Zenfone, Xperia, or even Nothing are better companies to check out. That being said, I may just hold on to my P6 until the 10.
Yeah? I haven’t had a One Plus since my Nord N10 lol have they gone down hill?
The original owners have since sold off the company to BBK Electronics in China and now China manufactures them. Now they sometimes share designs with other Chinese phones like Oppo, but more importantly OxygenOS has changed from a mostly stock Android rom to basically the US version of the Chinese ColorOS. So not only has the hardware been copied and pasted, but so has the hardware and people just don’t trust that.
Now the old CEO of OnePlus ended up ditching the company to form his own startup Nothing. There currently exists the Nothing Phone 1 and 2 and I’ve kinda been eyeing them in case they make a super interesting product one year.
I thought earlier rumors already pointed towards sticking with Samsung for G4. TSMC prices are too high for now.

seems the rumors started back in May
Welp, guess I’m sitting in my 6a for awhile. Mainly wanting to upgrade for a better in-display fingerprint scanner and wireless charging. The rest of the phone is pretty much perfect, especially the speakers on this thing. Though the Google Tensor cpu is kinda disappointing, and wish it had more memory. Though I paid like $250 for this thing after a trade in.
