So I was the upstairs neighbor who if we made the slightest noise got screamed at and broom on the ceiling beneath our feet. Yet we had to listen to her daughter badly practice an instrument or her and her friend whooping it up watching football games. The hypocrisy was so infuriating and she was a horrible person, could hear her screaming on her phone and she parked in a way to block the other tenants from easily parking. When we left the apartment we told the landlord she was the main reason we wanted out, and we weren’t the first to complain about her, and apparently she evicted her after that.

I guess, I just wonder how many people who genuinely feel like their neighbor makes too much noise are like that woman.

My current upstairs neighbors aren’t actually that bad except for their dogs. Previous neighbors were so bad that we couldn’t put things up on the walls with command hooks because their stomping around shook our apartment so badly. And this apartment ain’t cheap so it was truly them and not just a thin barrier or anything. They are the type of neighbor that my post is about lol.

Oh I believe you, I’m sorry if it came across differently. Just wanted to share my experience. Neighbors suck.

Agreed. I don’t think I’d mind a townhouse though. Sharing walls isn’t so bad; sharing floors-ceilings transfers a ton of noise.

My loudest neighbor ever was understandable. It was a shithole apartment built super cheaply. They were above us but their entry was next to ours and then they had stairs that went over our kitchen. Idk the exact situation, but there were like 5 kids around the same age and a young woman who I guess was a single mom to at least some of them, so school would let out and they would stomp and fight and shout for like 5 minutes straight on the stairs. I would straight up just pause my movie or whatever I was doing and wait for it to pass so I could hear again lol. But between the shitty building material and them being just kids and the lady being spread so thin already, I just let it go lol.
