pablo603: Honestly I’d buy it just to have some fun from screwing around with its insides and potentially finding a solution. $40 is not a lot and is a crazy deal, even for a damaged unit. Soldering practice kits cost more than that
This one seems like a simple fix. Probably something with the power button as someone here has said already. That would be the first thing I’d check out. Something is probably bent inside or stuff like that causing it to constantly be in contact with whatever it uses to complete the electrical circuit, so the quest 2 thinks it’s constantly being held down.
RugbyRaggs: The controllers alone are worth more than that I would imagine. Well worth a go.

AxelOfficialHentai: I see… I’ve also tried to look for the problem but apparently no one has ever had it before. So if you feel lucky I would buy it and try to contact the Meta customer support e-mail and see if they somehow know how to fix the issue.

What exactly do you think you can do, that doesn’t include taking it apart, that the seller hasn’t done?
Grrrth_TD: That’s time spent learning and doing something I enjoy as opposed to just trying to make some money. Plus I think it’s safe to assume a large majority of people would be unwilling to take electronics apart.
GTHell: If it boot a screen then it’s certainly not related to electrical problems at all.
ArtFart124: It’ll take approximately 5 minutes to take a photo of the controllers and post them on marketplace. I don’t see how that’s a waste of time
Parking_Cress_5105: I kinda Guess the power button is damaged and keeps clicking, so it’s probably fixable and for the price you can’t go wrong (the controllers are more expensive than the hand). But also can be a scam as it’s kinda too good to be true.
Grrrth_TD: I’d have no problem opening it up to fix the button. This is being sold from a smaller town outside of the city I live in. Wouldn’t be surprised if they just need the money.
Parking_Cress_5105: Upon further though it probably won’t ba a damaged button as short clicking turns off the screen. Long press brings up the power menu but if you keep pressing it will force shutdown. But I have cured some pretty possessed quests 2 with a factory reset so maybe this is the same case. Still I think it’s worth it for the controllers themselves if you have something to try them on.

ChickenTendies0: My guess it’s either getting boot looped, or something wrong with the buttons. My bet is on the first one. Probably system files got mangled after formatting. With help of Meta one should be able to revive it

Per my grandpa: if it were that easy, the professionals would have done it already. The first time you try, you are either a sucker or buying a learning experience for your second try.
pablo603: It really depends on the item. A lot of folks don’t know how certain stuff works, so they sell their devices at a very cheap price and mark them as damaged.
Microphones, speakers, headphones and computer mice would be the best example here. A lot of common, easy to fix issues but people don’t know what went wrong so they just sell them and buy a new unit.
Microphone not working? XLR cable? Probably a broken off solder. Audio jack? Same thing.
Speakers not working, headphones not working? Same thing.
Mouse double clicking or clicks not working? Switches have corroded and make inconsistent contact with the metal when clicked. Replace the switches. Quality ones cost $2 and will last for years.
If it’s something more complex like a blown capacitor, not a problem either. Take the blown one out, get a $4 replacement and solder it in.
There are so many things you can get for extremely cheap on the used market if you have basic repair skills and tools for that.
CalbertCorpse: I don’t disagree but the comments were talking about maybe they didn’t press the button hard enough. Thats not a guy who can diagnose a capacitor.
IdiotGiraffe0: When you turn it on hold down volume down as it turns on and it will bring you to a secret android menu where you can do all kinds of stuff to try and repair it! Just make sure you don’t destroy it for good.
MikerDarker: If factory reset didn’t fix I don’t know what would.
kazoo_kitty: i’d snag it just cause the controllers. You could flip them on ebay for $100 if you can’t fix the headset. I’m not sure how to fix it but worth a shot
