I don’t want to undercut the tragedy of lost life here, but I pity people doing HEMA fencing or similar hobbies in UK.

As I understand it the government was already stupid about some anti-sword/knife laws and this won’t help…

Swords are already pretty regulated in the UK last I learnt about this topic. Matt Easton from Schola Gladiatoria has a video on it somewhere

King Charles III said his thoughts and prayers were with the family of the young victim, and he saluted the courage of emergency workers, Buckingham Palace said.

“King Charles III” still sounds so weird to me. The last story I ran across with his name in it was about either Ireland or Scotland, I can’t remember which, and it took me longer than I care to admit to realize it wasn’t some sly Jacobite comment.

I thought cops wearing chainmail was ridiculous, but maybe London police should have something like this:

        Wooosh!

This many victims they still call a ‘mass’ shooting over here. It gets more clicks and you all buy it because everyone loves a chance to point out what they do better than the big kid in the room.

He got it wrong. Kill the father, wound the boy. Then he grows up and hunts you down with a catch phrase he’s prepared for the occasion.

I’d venture a guess the majority of users here are American and just trying to solve our stupid American shit.

If you don’t care, then just ignore. If you do care about reducing deaths in America, then let these conversations play out.

Posting some polemic kneejerk reactionary comments about Murica in threads that are not about America is not going to reduce deaths in America. It only derails the actual topic with Americentrism that other people will just perceive as rude.

“Thoughts and prayers” seems to have crossed the pond. I genuinely hope they are more useful over there, because they are absolutely worthless here and usually indicate that nothing of consequence will be done about the matter.

Either everyone got whooshed by your sarcasm and underlying point or there are more gun lubbers on here than I thought.

If anyone directly subjected to the tragedy were here I might be inclined to agree, but this isn’t the funeral. So personally I think it’s a great time to connect the dots between this event, and what could’ve been had the lethal effectiveness of the shooter been elevated. With the goal in mind to mitigate future tragedies, I see nothing tone deaf about it. I see it as very productive.

I mean really, what else are we supposed to talk about in these comments…?
