Despite the power brought forth by the total sum of human knowledge, the world has yet to create a set of headphones worth more than €30

Friendly reminder that Dr Dre beat Dee Barnes almost to death in 1991 in a club in LA.

“He picked me up by my hair and my ear and smashed my face and body into the wall…next thing I know, I’m down on the ground and he’s kicking me in the ribs and stomping on my fingers. I ran into the women’s bathroom to hide, but he burst through the door and started bashing me in the back of the head.”

So… basic marketing/visual merchandizing. Presentation is important.

There’s a famous story in the retail world about a dude and his wife that bought a couple hundred shits over seas for dirt cheap and thought they could sell them at flee market for some quick cah. They set up a booth and tried to sell the shirts for $5 each. Nothing sold. The next week they bought a $50 mannequin bust form, put a shirt on it and charged $10. They sold out. They turned into some big clothing line but I forget what it was.

All typos aside, people really did make big money hauling literal shit across the Atlantic. Guano trade was no small business. They scooped up ships full of that stuff from random islands in the Caribbean and sold it to farmers in Europe and Americas as fertilizer.

Honestly, the best headphones with astounding fidelity don’t get advertised. I assume it’s because most people don’t really care and want to buy something recognizable, while people that actually care will spend the time and due diligence to find the best performance within their budget.

I’ll never buy beats or apple headphones, because I know they’re absolutely trash when I could spend the same money or less and get proper monitor headphones.
