    [Obligitory switch to Firefox comment]

And as a side, De-googling yourself is hard, ive used Gmail since it launched and am slowly switching to Proton, but im likely never going to be able to uncouple the forwarded email addresses. Throw android on top of that and what you are asking requires an amount of effort most are not willing to undertake.

The “just delete your account” is unhelpful, its like saying “just dont buy things from Nestle”, good luck with that.

Nestlé is hard because a lot of product are own by nestlé without advertising it. Google, on the contrary, try to make everything simple for you: one account, to have a mail, a map, a cloud, log on all your website, use a spreadsheet, watch video… etc… The good part: you can do most of those thing, without an account. But it is true, they do a lot to keep you comfortable ingrained in their web of control

Your right, but most people who would like to leave google services are already embedded in their ecosystem. Google does have their mits in everything, but they tend to put their name on it. There are thankfully alternatives to most products, many better than what google offers. My issue is migrating off their platforms when you built your digital presense on their platform before they were cartoonishly evil.

It is not a simple process and in my case, Im making a valiant attempt, but its futile. Effort would be better spent preventing new accounts rather than trying to resuce those already stuck in the tarpit.

Ladybird is coming. Degoogling starts there. Firefox has fallen to google, so i guess extension freedom is gonna go. I dont even understand why anyone using chrome. On their first attemp when they disabled some of my beloved extensions, I switched. EU will make it happen anyway.
