Most of the actors in this movie were child stars who had reached the late teen age by this point, and who continued on with their careers after this. So the acting is pretty good, for a TV movie. The script is typical for the “after school special” or “Lifetime movie” genre, and though this was originally shown on NBC, it is currently on the Lifetime youtube channel, and Lifetime made a sequel in 2018.

    • TRIVIA: the woman playing Stacy’s mother was a member of the 60s group Mamas and the Papas, whose most well-known song was “California Dreamin’”.
    • TRIVIA: Sally Jessy Raphael, who had a talk show throughout the 90s, has a brief appearance as a judge.
