The most worrying collapse for India is in the Security indicator category, where India’s rank is 172. This means, only eight countries rank worse than India out of 180 on this parameter. So India is worse than all in terms of ensuring security of journalists in the world, other than China, Mexico, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Ukraine and Myanmar, in that order. Myanmar is at the bottom.

The security indicator “evaluates the ability to identify, gather and disseminate news and information in accordance with journalistic methods and ethics, without unnecessary risk of bodily harm, psychological or emotional distress, or professional harm resulting from, for example, loss of one’s job, confiscation of professional equipment, or ransacking of media installations.”

            Neat

It’s pedantic but there are a fair few stable and free democracies around the world as 'free as France. Namibia, South Korea, Japan, East Timor, etc.

Just wanted to point out while definitely far more common in the West, its not the only place you can find democracy and press freedom

This is getting ridiculous lol. Benzema is an Algerian Muslim, of course he is going to support Palestine but what does it have to do with his achievements on the field? He had an amazing season and deserved that ballon d’Or whether he supports Palestine or Israel.

The Ballon d’Or thing is insignificant. Accusing Benzema of having connections with Muslim Brotherhood is a much more serious accusation. And to say that he’ll withdraw the accusation if he tweets xyz thing I want just shows you the current situation in France. It is despicable from this guy. That he is a minister just makes the situation even more ridiculous.

I was responding to OP who brought up the BdO thing. My comment literally downplays the BdO thing.

As for OP, they are most likely conflating it with the statements made by Valerie Boyer who said Benzema’s BdO should be stripped.

I am not understanding why benzema is being accused of like… being apart of the MB? he’s not even religious lol like didnt he have a few sex scandals and the valbuena shit and what not? i tried finding some info and it seems to be really vague connected to a fucking tweet about gaza? anyone who can give me a better idea?

It is about his tweet in regards to Gaza. The moment he tweeted that, he randomly got accused of having ties to the MB. Mind you the MB isn’t even considered a terrorist organization by Europe. Only by the Saudi’s, UAE etc. You know the same place that is currently employing him.

He has zero evidence of his claims as can be seen by his current tweet. Which he will probably retract soon enough as Benzema has said he is going to pursue legal actions against him.

But the media in France has a hateboner against Benzema, that’s nothing new. Granted Benzema has had plenty of controversies, but still the way they treat him. Like this guy is the Minister of Interieur and he is spending his time making random accusations against Benzema.

Far-right people don’t really need to try very hard to attract voters. Other side is doing their job for them.

This particular case is clown show however, and it looks like the guy has personal vendetta against the dude.

Yeah it’s really seeing how a lot of politicians are targeting him when other (ex) footballers (like Cantona) also tweeted support for civils in Palestine and no one said anything.

It also helps to understand why Benzema was black listed a long time in NT

Macron’s party is a centrist “start up” that recruited from the right and left establishment.

Darmanin was on the more “hard” part of the traditional right. There’s barely any space between him and the far right.
