More generally, it felt to me like 2025 was a shift in general discourse about China. Not sure whether it is the explosion in Chinese EVs, or the ramp up in green energy, or maybe the defunding of USAID. Overall, people still aren’t positive about China, but grudging admiration and qualified praise is something I am seeing more often even in the mainstream.
Also the rare earth situation right now hints at a real supply dependency, which might be explained by mismanagement of strategic resource allocation by the West.
