Anymore I try to just manually install updates when I need to charge it so I’m not having to take it off my wrist multiple times to do each.

    Only on Apple watch :)

You could always charge it in smaller bursts like during shower or such things

I wear mine overnight and pop it on the charger in the morning while I shower, have my coffee, and get ready for work.

Put the charger where you sit. I’m at my desk, charger is on my desk. I charge it when I shower before bed, and in the morning when I drink my coffee. If you’re not in the same place for 30 minutes a day you’re booking yourself too tight.

I work night shift, so neither lol. Updating my watch is a PIA. Every time there’s an update I get an alert, while at work, that it didn’t update because it’s not on the charger. Well no fucking shit, I’m working at that time. Then when I get home I can’t update it because it’s not at least 50% charged. Son of a… I put in on the charger and sleep but of course it doesn’t update because it’s not the middle of the night and I’m not awake when it finally reaches 50% to tell it to update, and then I wake up I grab it and go because by then I have forgotten. Wash rinse repeat. Updates usually take at least a week on my end. Sure wish I it would be change what time it auto updates, not everyone is asleep at night.

Agreed. I work during the day, but I charge in the morning. Apple has technology that can finish charging our phones, watches, and even headphones just before we’ll need them, thanks to machine learning. Yet, it can’t learn that I charge in the morning so it should update then? What’s this obsession with only updating at night?

I feel your pain fellow creature of the night.

I wish there was a way to sync apps up better to my sleep schedule. I hate how activity, my to do list (Things 3), and other apps consider the new day to be at midnight. If I exercise after midnight during one waking cycle and before midnight the next waking cycle, it counts as the same day of exercise. At midnight, my to-dos from the next waking cycle clutter my current list. My phone and watch want to update during the middle of my waking cycle.

Just let me set the “rollover to the next day” function to the middle of my sleep cycle. Like noon. Obviously the calendar date should roll over at midnight which is a little wonky. But you can always mark to-do dates and exercise dates as the date your wake cycle starts. Like if I exercise between noon on 11/25 and noon on 11/26, just mark that I exercised on 11/25.

Yep and again right before bed while I’m laying in bed reading for 30-90 mins (depends on the night), between that I never run out of battery even though my watch is getting kind of old

Yeah, mine isn’t fully charged after I shower and dress. So I just wait an extra 10 minutes or so and then put it on

Mine only needs 20min or so of charge each day. I usually don’t top it off because that last 20% takes a long time and adds the most stress to the battery life.

Charge/update before the bed. Even with a “slow” charger it takes 1.5 hours max. With the fast charger that time is cut by half.

according to the replies I’m starting to think that it’s abnormal that my series 7 won’t auto update unless it’s physically on a charger, and it sure won’t auto update until past midnight…

I put it on the charger 1 or 2 hrs before going to bed. The only difference is I never rely on auto updates on any of my devices. I manually request the update(if there is one) and then plop it on the charger.

I don’t think I’ve tracked my sleep more than three times and I’ve been using an Apple Watch since the first SE came out

I love it, helps me develop better sleep habits. Plus it tracks my heart and respiratory rates.

And tells me at what random time my body decided to wake me up at in the middle of the night.

Totally disagree with this take. I often totally forget when I fell asleep and it’s a nice thing to know.

I’ve had a watch for years and never used sleep tracking. I’ve been using it for about a week now and I gotta say, I’m pretty sure I F$[|{!n6 hate it! I swear I’ve been sleeping worse since wearing it to bed and like you said what do I really need to know that info for?
