lol, Nvidia could charge any amount and there would be people rushing to buy it just to claim they have the best card. You have to know how much you’re willing to spend and just get whatever matches your budget. For people with no budget, they can get the X090 cards.

We need to accept the new world of high inflation.

This is life now. If you can’t afford it, protest, fight, accept, or die.

For people with money, somewhat like my family with millions in fixed income assets are returning 5% in risk free money. That’s 100k income for doing nothing but having money in CDs, bonds, etc.

Basically no matter what the Fed does now, Rates up or rates down, causes inflation.

We could try looking at other 4090 models, but there’s another disturbing trend: Most of the 4090 cards are starting to go out of stock. Is that because demand has increased? It’s possible but unlikely. More probably is that the supply has dried up, either because it became too expensive to manufacture, or because something else is coming down the pipeline.

either because it became too expensive to manufacture, or because something else is coming down the pipeline.

It’s neither of these. I know the 4090 FE was being produced by Foxconn in China because their stamp along with the customs stamp were on the box when I bought it from Best Buy (it came in the shipping packaging direct from Foxconn factory still intact with the retail packaging inside that).

This ban also means no more making the cards in China too since the chips can’t be shipped there, so that’s absolutely going to fuck with production for a time as they need to find a new location to assemble the cards and get all those logistics in place. Maybe some of the AIB cards weren’t being assembled in China, but I doubt it.

There is no way 5090 will be launching at same price. The AI craze will be even worse and it will be banned in China from the start.

Good luck to the waiting for 5090 camp.

They could price it at $5000 and people will buy it. Or not and they kill all consumer gpu production and sell only data center SKUs and still make bajillions.

Even if demand softens a little, they have no reason to reduce prices if people will pay even more. I suspect it’ll be a 2k card at least.

I gave up when I saw newer games either don’t work on my 5700XT or have zero official support and AyyMD have no track record of going that extra mile.

Installed World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King server-edition. Now I can enjoy that 120+ FPS on 1440p. Lul.

I will get a 5070 whenever they come out in 2026-7.

You realize that the dies are exported to china, assembled on a card and then exported to the rest of the world right? Taiwanese companies have moved all of their production to China. There is not much left in Taiwan. Only Gigabyte has some left.

4090 is going to have low supply for the remaining of this cycle and it’s not going to be better for 5090. The cost it takes to move back the production to Taiwan, for a consumer card is too high. Sure they will assemble H100s and up in Taiwan no problem. Not a consumer grade card. The price will be passed on to the consumer.

That’s a good point, and will disrupt supply in the short term. However Nvidia has a LOT of manufacturers all over the world. Tooling up for more GPU production takes months, not years. The hard part is the processor. Nvidia has had a lot of time to prepare for this. I would be surprised if they weren’t already able to plug any supply gaps.

All those who justified the price hike when 4090 first launched must be cumming so hard. For every cent prices are increased, it must be like ecstasy to them.

I honestly even don’t care. Make the 5090 Ti cost $10,000. If some whales want to spend that much, more power to them.

Just don’t fuck with the rest of the stack and offer a reasonable 5060 type of card with a useful amount of memory so people don’t have to reverse mortgage their houses to play GTA6.

I think people forget that the XX90 is supposed to fit a similar niche as the Titan series. It’s a luxury product to suck as much money as possible from whales, it’s okay that it’s expensive. The XX80 though, that needs to be far more realistic.

My apartment was in a fire and I want to replace my pc that had a 3080 but it’s so damn expensive these days. I feel like I’d rather just coast by using gamepass, geforce now, or steam deck. And yes I got insurance money, I’m just struggling to come to grips with gpu prices these days

They don’t cost pennies in Europe. The 3080 still costs $816 in Denmark, for example. Cheaper secondhand, but only by about 20%.

3080s are generally going for $400 used. you can get even better deals if you’re willing to go AMD.

Things aren’t as bad as doomers like to claim. Rich redditors don’t realize majority of people play on x60 class cards.
