I’d be happy to extend him, we’re going to be screwed in 12-18 months time if we lose both Partey and Jorginho without long term replacements. Can Chelsea stop buying DM’s for a few windows please?

Yeah, a lot of Arsenal fans don’t seem to like him or understand why he plays, which shows the level of tactical understanding from the average fan quite well. He keeps possession well, and is capable under pressure and in tight areas. Rice on the other hand is simply not as good at those things so having Jorginho there as one of the pivots is essential (especially with Partey out)

I’m a pretty average fan but i’ve tried recently to put my focus away from the ball and on a specific player for a while when im watching games, and im realising how much more there is to it than just what’s being done with the ball.

I think that’s why alot of fans don’t understand his quality. Most fans focus on big moments like goals and don’t notice what a strong midfield provides because its easy to miss if you’re not actively focusing on it. I don’t fully understand it myself but i’m learning because i’m starting to notice more things besides goals.

      Basically i love football.

Jorginho will always have games or purple patches where he just controls everything and is always on the ball playing at his pace. He’s perfect when you’re 1 or 2-0 up and dominating possession.

The reason some Arsenal fans (and Chelsea ones before that) are 50/50 on him is because his weaknesses are very obvious and it gets exploited when the game is end to end due to his non existent pace. He will get booked for tactical fouls very often, most games he won’t be able to make another challenge because he’s already been booked so players just go past him like he isn’t there.

I really liked him when he was at Chelsea, he was very good way more often than he was bad but if we weren’t controlling the game he could be a liability sometimes.

tbh. if that man had an ounce of good genetics to be taller of faster he’d be a world beater.

his weaknesses have nothing to do with his IQ of the game. just pure athleticism

Yeah that’s basically the point I made. His football IQ is very high, he wouldn’t have made it to the top level if it wasn’t due to his lack of physical traits.

I watched every minute of his Chelsea career, brilliant player in possession and when his team have the majority of the ball (which he plays a huge part in). Chasing games or in those intense end to end matches he can be a bit of a passenger.

          sincerely.

enzo has less of an iq considerably.

is also small and weak but quicker. not at all the answer to that hypothetical

Because he isn’t a 6. He is a regista looking for the 3rd man, no look pass. CB > J20 >one touch ping it to a runner. His defensive issues were covered by Kante.

Arsenal have 3 different types of 6s and all are good quality at their specialism in that role. Given we went so many years with the odd 6 here and there under Wenger this is one of the most pleasing parts of the squad rebuild.

I regret losing Jorginho. It’d be great to see him succeed for a few seasons Arsenal.
