Why not? There are a lot of great watches for way less money than this Seiko. You’re acting like you must spend thousands of dollars on watches when you have this as a hobby lol

You don’t and you’re right. However, if you get into this hobby there’s a good chance you will find a watch in the $$$ that you really like then it becomes your grail then you end up chasing it.

Yep, you’re not going to get targeted for robbery because of this watch. The only watch that might raise any unwanted interest is a Rolex Submariner, and even then it would be extremely shit luck to get robbed in Finland.

As for the watch, with that budget I’d look at used Nomos, Sinn, Longines, etc. from Kelloharrastajat facebook page.

Buy the Seiko Presage Cocktail Star Bar. Much better and dressier than the open heart ones

I have the white version of this watch and I love it.

I won’t comment on Finland’s rising crime rates.

Jesus that’s the price of a used Oris Big Crown Pointer Date, Sinn 104/556/856, even some Nomos models. This could be the worst value watch you could pick under €1000.

Seiko puts out terrible movements these days at this price. The 4R and 6R movements often run +/- 25 s/d.

Also no thief is gonna target you because you’re wearing a Seiko my man. They have a reputation as being affordable watches (even though that’s not necessarily true anymore)

Source: Seiko own technical specs say +25 - 15 seconds per day on the 6R but ok

I’ve owned several new and used 6R and 4R Seikos and they aren’t lying.

I was robbed in a bar in Helsinki in 2013. They made me pay 9 EUR for a mediocre lager.

    EDIT: watch looks great, IMO!

Is this your first/only watch? Get what you like, obviously, but I would opt for something a bit more versatile if it was my one and only.

I have a very similar watch - seiko Presage zen Garden-and I really like it. It’s more of a formal watch rather than an every day wear.

Quality is good, it’s reliable and I personally really like the open heart. I paid £730 new and that’s probably top end of what I would be willing to pay. I do sometimes find myself looking at the cocktail range and thinking I should have got one of them instead.

Will it get robbed? I mean it’s not a massively desirable watch. When I wear miner I tend to keep it covered outside like any of my watches.
