Hi all. This watch was owned by my girlfriend’s grandfather (now deceased) and we’re looking into getting it restored as a gift to her mother. She thinks it is from the 40s or thereabouts but I haven’t had much luck finding any info online. Are there any vintage Rolex experts who might be able to provide any info about this model of watch? Thanks!
I’d suggest going to a Rolex dealer or authorized dealer. There they can give you the most reliable info and they can restore it to.
You can also cross post to r/rolex as the folks there might be of help.
Anything on the case back? Can you take a photo?
Unfortunately the case back is just engraved with the original owners name and old phone number, so not much help there.
Are we sure it’s real? The case looks very poor, like a cheaply made steel/something case, plated with gold or a gold coloured metal, and peeling off (hence the metal underneath rusting).

Rolled gold/gold filled was very common
if it is real it is super old. only way to find out is opening the back. if it is an old one should be easy. if not if youre just posting to waste time then i don’t know
Please photograph the inside movement and inside of the back of the case look for the hammer mark
Before you get it restored. Look into the Rolex Service Center issue in South Korea. Rolex fcked up. Might want to keep your guards up when dealing with them.

My money is on a “Marriage” watch. A Pocket watch converted to a wrist watch.
Most times they just installed custom loops on the original case to attach straps to, but some people actually made custom cases. And there were many Rolex pocket watches with the crown at the 3 O’clock position.
Looks like a real 1920’s model to me. Often they used third-party cases then so there isn’t always a proper reference number. It just kind of is what it is.

It is not a Rolex it is a Soviet watch most commonly produced under the name Pobeda. The movement is a caliber 2602
