If you want a truly black watch then my vote would be the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic

Here’s a link without all the tracking garbage if that annoyed anyone else like it did me.
Ohhh dang, that looks pretty sweet! Maybe a dumb question but would ceramic be lighter weight than stainless steel?
Sinn 556. Sinn U50.
Tudor Pelagos 39, or the new FXD titanium black dial, or a BB58 black/gilt.
Oris Diver 65 Cal 400.
Grand Seiko SBGA467
IWC Pilot Mark XX, your Laco might get jealous. IWC Ingenieur.
Nomos Tangomat or Ahoi
Omega Railmaster.
Breitling Chronomat GMT (Tudor movement).
Squale 1521 Classic COSC
These are all great options! The Railmaster was on my short list but was leaning towards the denim dial which doesn’t solve this problem ha, would love an IWC but totally agree it might make the Laco obsolete and I have some sentimental value there, a Sinn or the new Pelagos seems maybe perfect though. Have you tried on the Pelagos 39 by any chance?
I have the Pelagos 39. Wonderful watch. The t-fit bracelet is fantastic. It’s also great on an Erika’s Original Marine National strap.
Appreciate the feedback! Think I’ll have to go try one on. Definitely curios about the t-fit as I feel like I can never get a perfect fit in a bracelet, hence almost always removing for something else
Love the Longines.
Hey thanks! It’s actually my favorite watch. The subtle variation between the waffle pattern on the dial and the circles in the sub-dials + the blued hands just gets me every time! Plus I just like chronographs a lot. Fun way to time my coffee in the morning ha
My vote is Black OP36 or an Explorer I. Since you mentioned price of 1016s (personally I just don’t like the feel / build of vintage watches after being used to modern ones), there’s a lot of microbrands that do nice watches which reference the 1016 and similar designs like the Lorier Falcon and Smiths Everest. I tried on the Lorier at Wind Up in NYC and liked it much better than I had expected.
One vote for Tudor BB36…the old one! I’m not as much a fan of the newer one, I quite like the “smiley” text on the dial. Reliable and hardy
Speedy Pro Moonwatch
I’ve tried one on at an AD and felt a touch too big unfortunately. Plus I kinda feel like everyone has one. I do like the the early 2000’s speedy day / dates with the sundials at 12,9, and 6 maybe
A diver would be perfect something like a sub if it’s too expensive I’d go for a good old seiko
What’s going on with that laco? Its dial looks tropical but I didn’t know they made one. is it just the lighting?
First Gen 36mm aqua terra
I wish my existing AT was 36 instead of 39! The 39 I have has sentimental value and not sure I’d be willing to have two of the same watch but otherwise that’s probably THE answer!
Ball Marvelight Caring Edition
Cool looking good everyday Watch that’s a conversation starter at night
It’s quite thick though.
Good to know thx!
For a GADA, I look for led than 12mm
For sure! I’m picky in general about lug to lug measurements and thickness. Makes a huge difference in terms of wearability
Seiko presage line has been my go to
SBGX261… works with everything all of the time
Can get the ceramic black gmt master II for ~$10k nowadays - would be a cool option
Ranger or Explorer would be a great addition.
