Set her past mistakes aside, and this lady has been a great mom to Brandon this entire journey. Her concerns in the beginning were more than valid, she flew all the way out to them to be at the wedding, she offered an olive branch and her genuine heart to Mary, she was chill about munching on frogs, and she got real with Brandon when she saw him being in the wrong against Mary.

Honestly, she’s a real one.

I work in social services and a lot of us have lived experience (we have been in similar positions as some of our clients) so this checks out for me. with some people, once they’re clean or have moved their usage to a manageable state (depends on the substance- it’s not possible for all substances to use in moderation) people tend to be more empathetic and sympathetic and just knowledgeable and real about shit.

Good post I’m so glad someone said it she does deserve it what a contrast compared to other Americans that travel there like the guy that wouldn’t eat the pig roast and made his girl cry

I was arguing with people in the comments from day 1 who were diagnosing her as a narcissist and saying she has no right to have an opinion in Brandon’s life since he’s a recovering addict

It was clear from the beginning that she was a mother who loved her son. We could all see the relationship was toxic and they needed to change but for some reason when Brandon’s mom said all the comments talked about how she has no right to talk

I’m glad so many are changing their minds about her

No respect for washed up drug addict. Maybe had she raised him he wouldn’t have such self esteem problems.

She’s recovered, and judging by your comment, has way more wisdom and life experience than you. So what does that say, huh? Intelligent people like her learn by the mistakes they make. Grow the F up.

I totally agree with you aside from “she’s recovered”. As far as I understand, an addict is always “in recovery” and it’s a lifelong deal. Doesn’t matter if it’s 10,20,40 years down the line, sometimes addicts turn back to drugs no matter how much time has passed.

But I was pleasantly surprised with her growth and she seems to be doing well! I never understood people who view prior addicts in a negative light. They are stronger than most people because it’s a mental battle like no other and have been through way more shit in life to end up resorting to doing drugs.

What a nasty comment above. I worked with homeless and foster kids. Guess what- half of them ended up on drugs for the horrific shit they witnessed or experienced and the drugs were the only way to block out the memories of getting raped by grandpa for 3 years starting at 5 years old. It’s such a fucked up mindset. No one willingly decides to throw their life into the toilet and to judge that is awful.

Eugene, OR, if she’s still in that area, has a lot of drug addiction but a lot of services in their county. Glad she’s taking advantage.

She might be the most mature, level-headed person we have ever seen on any version of the show, hands down. She’s handled all of this amazingly.
