Rented a parking space in Brooklyn and thought I had room turning onto the ramp exiting the garage. Railing swiped the side of the car. First day bringing it back and pretty annoyed about it.
Wanted to hear some opinions on how much people think this should be around to fix up. Dealership going to give me a quote from body shop but wanted to here some opinions here as well.
Sorry to say it’ll never be the same with that much quarter damage in a spot like where it is; def go insurance and if ur worried about ur premium going up then u had no business buying into a Porsche in the first place
That’s a $10k job all day.
Yes! Where are these $20k quotes coming from?
Certified Porsche shop? You’re looking at $20 to $28K.
Where do you get those numbers from?
I was an estimator at a Porsche shop.
No way…. I had every driver side panel on my cayman replaced and my driver rear suspension rebuilt for $22k.
Sorry this happened! Since car was stationary (!!) this is a comprehensive claim, not collision, and this should not increase your insurance premiums. Delete this thread unless you do not care. Make sure to demand a Porsche Approved body shop and your car will be good as new again. Just be prepared to have it in the shop for a month or so. Insurance should pay for a rental.
Given the make, not cheap. Looks like new door panel, new rear quarter and bumper. If they can fix existing panels I’d be impressed.
Why is everyone so sure all panels need to be replaced? This looks like it can be repaired instead of replaced, should be done for 5k
Leave it , adds a nice touch
Go through insurance
Get a quote. From a top rated shop on google that is not a dealer and local to you. Tell them it’s not through insurance.
I had great success with a reasonable quote when I bumped my hood into a ford F150 at 5km/hr.
Assuming you have insurance, they will cover this. You pay your deductible, and wait like 3-4 weeks. We had a similar incident, actually two lol. My wife was making a right, and the person on her left that was suppose to go straight took a right too. Took a while but just paid my $1k deductible. The other time, I accidentally closed the garage opener while back into the garage. That was bad lol, that took 2 months because they had to order the rear spoiler that broke off. I saw the invoice, it was like $5k or so.
lol got the turo will pay for my car feel lol, umm I know a guy who can do it cheaper than totalling ur car…. Love the “what was that noise?” Idk but keep pushing, sounds like it’s going to end at some point !
$5-7k
All the $20k claims are insane and if that’s the case for NYC maybe get it repaired outside NYC. You can get the door for $800-$1000 used in mint condition, and OE they’re $1200. Bumper another $800 max and fender another $800-1000 max. Paint and Labor and you’re looking $10k max.
People saying $20k must work for body shops in NYC and charge this ridiculous amount on the norm to ignorant people.
In DFW this would cost around $8k at the highest end body shop. I’ve seen far worse done to Porsches and BMWs and nowhere near did it cost 20k for a deep scratch.
will be a big repair bill… that will easily be enough to get a decent compact car with 10-20k miles
