Btw, one doesn’t always see it so suggestively, but I love that pronounced squiggle above his eyebrows, suggesting that he’s not really bald, but more likely has fine, thin hair, or is just naturally blond as all get-out. The coloring really messes that concept up, I’m afraid.

It’s also just possible that Schulz simply loved the idea of CB being in a sort of twilight zone between being blond and being shaved like a Tibetan monk, lol. (the little fringe there is all that’s left!)

I’ll echo Sillage, for sure, although I personally don’t consider it primarily young-adult fare. In fact some of the themes are quite heavy, and although overall it’s fun and upbeat in tone, individual events can be rather heartbreaking and/or deeply discouraging, and death is a fairly regular occurrence.

@beatl@pawb.social, I’d be curious to know which tomes you’ve read. There actually is a separate Nävis series that’s indeed pitched for kids, but it’s a spinoff.

Also worth checking out would be Yoko Tsuno and Orbital. Bedetheque almost always has full page samples to look at, and a partner site there sometimes has even more, like 12+ pages. You’ve also just reminded me to check out Le Cycle de Cyann, which I was putting off until my French was better. It may be worth a look for you, but I understand it’s considerably more complex than V&L.

Well-summed indeed, and really, a sort of chronic, tragic phenomenon that goes on between the underdog that greatly appreciates the heroine for who she really is, while she has the hots for the more ‘manly’ man. (mix up the genders, delightfully as you will, still the same equation)

I think across my romantic attempted conquests, I only got scorched once or twice, until I kinda realised some fundamental things… 😅

Upvote, but I think what would really help when posting deep or deep-ish research / thought-pieces is to excerpt some telling portion of the article in order to show us what you personally found interesting, as well as to share some key bit of interest from the piece.

Social media streams are so driveby-ish in nature that they’re heavily geared towards a quick look or impression of an image and or bit of text, that merely linking to something will tend to get less engagement (assuming that was the point). Even in a science sublemmy, I would think.
