Whoaaa multi-image?! Amazing!! Will it work retroactively? I’ve been posting to threadiverse comms from Pixelfed for years lol

ColorFabb claims that it is, but I’ve never looked into it! It’d be nice to know
EDIT: found a comment from the person who makes the Ecogenesis stuff, about testing the UV resistance of another brand (Beyond Plastic, now defunct).

You must have your stuff pretty well dialed in then, congrats! We don’t get like a lot of jams, but since we print for so many patrons, the machines are just kinda always running. So it’s relatively rare, but it still happens

I’d definitely like to take a crack at guessing, but before I get invested in this… is it AI generated? 👀

It depends I guess. How many different types of material are you switching between, and how often? We commonly use PLA, PHA, ABS, ASA, HIPS, PETG, TPU, PP-GF, PA-CF, BVOH, and occasionally a few others/composites/etc. Some of them really don’t play nice with each other either.

I love it, yeah. There are some hiccups, don’t get me wrong… it warps as bad as ABS, and not many people sell the pure stuff. But:
I hope the opposite

Oh definitely, I’m weirdly obsessed with dimity? I got some unbleached cotton/flax 5 OSY dimity from Tuscarora Mills last year to line a purse with, and it was lovely. The lines are really unobtrusive but noticeable enough to make freehand work really easy.

Agreed lol, “Taco Cat Goat” sounds like something a bougie gourmet SoHo cheesemaker would make. I bet it’d be good on a pizza though

PHA seems to work pretty well in the AFC. It’s not super prone to shattering into a million pieces, the way some materials can be (especially when old and/or moist). The only notable issue is that, due to the very slow hardening, sometimes the “kick” procedure breaks the purge in half instead of knocking it into the purge bucket. I think I just need to add a “dwell” command to the macro between purge and kick, to give it a little more time.
The yellow and black filaments are both from the “Terraform” line of PHA by HartSmart, who I’m pretty sure is sourcing their base materials from EcoGenesis. The pink filament is from the “LooPHA” line by PHA Eco Goods, and is blended with real sakura blossoms.
Also, the Box Turtle is the only AFC I’ve ever built, so I don’t have anything for comparison, but… it was awful!! What terrible tolerances on those printed parts! Honestly quite surprised I ever got it working at all, let alone this well.

Before you invest in a 3d printer, check your local public libraries! A lottttt of them have 3d printers these days

I think that’s where “I’m A Virgo” is, and that’s reaallllyyyy good

Oh yeahhh, i forgot about that part too… Ooof

I can’t believe nobody’s brought up the classic FFX “haa haa haa haa!”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H47ow4_Cmk0
Yes, I know it’s supposed to be forced and awkward, but I still hated it as a kid lol

Oh wowww, I always forget that their shenanigans usually cause an influx of new people here. That’ll be nice

I think it’s just a lot more heavily vetted. You can’t even sell on there AT ALL without being a member of the co-op, which costs money in the first place

I know there are a few platforms attempting to fill the niche that Etsy used to, but of them I prefer Artisans Cooperative, because co-ops are cool. Also they’re on the fediverse! @coopartisans@social.coop

The materials science one! I work in a makerspace, and that process has been tangentially relevant for a long time but I’ve never gotten around to it. Cool stuff

Oooh, I learned a bit about annealing! Always meant to do that. This is cool, ty
That’s ok! I was just curious 😊
