Grow what is suited to your environment and season them you won’t have to do much while providing way more than you can use. Grow something not ideal them yeah it’ll be a perpetual uphill battle.

Run everything in a sandbox ftw. Nothing touches the host ever. No apps talk to one another and you have total control of data going in and out of each sandbox.

I’m not saying taking gecko and modifying it is impossible, just far less pleasant than taking blink/V8. Ladybird is interesting because it’s a completely independent project from chromium or FF with some really nice ideas. I hope to see it succeed but seems to be moving a little too slowly as a project to be a serious contender. That’s all to say it’s far easier to make chromium based browsers than FF based browsers. FF has needed a rewrite for like a decade already.

Printing a gun without a license can be and likely is currently illegal. You can just use traditional manufacturing methods to do the same thing anyways. It’s not rocket science. The issue is the control over people to maybe prevent them from doing what you’re saying. We could install cameras in everyone’s house to make super sure they’re not breaking any laws. I think you now see the problem. More control, more safety, less freedom. At the end of the day there’s a simple way around any of these control measures and all we’re doing is giving up freedom for nothing.

DIY 3D printers aren’t that difficult. It’s just two or three motors, a motion controller and a hot nozzle for most plastic printing. Replace the hot nozzle with a really epic laser for metal parts or possibly a stick welder. Even better with lithographic printing minus the really toxic fumes of the material. Take a really bright high resolution screen or maybe a projector and one motor and you got yourself a lithographic printer. Are you going to compete directly with cutting edge printers? Probably not. Will you still be able to make shit that works? Most likely after some tinkering.

It’s not ready yet but there’s the ladybird project that has a lot of promise. I appreciate FF a lot but their code base is a mess, they need a modern rewrite of their browser engine. That’s why we’re getting all these chromium based browsers, it’s just a better base to build off of.

That’s just the way it is now. Humans used to go generations with minimal change. In this alien existence we’ve created things change drastically in just a decade or two. That said a lot of things still never change like human behavior or motivations. There’s still a lot of wisdom about life someone can gather and pass down as they see fit. As they say, the more things change the more they stay the same.

Generally speaking though these are all just algorithms and the issues people have aren’t about this particular algorithm but the ways in which some people or companies are using the algorithm. It’s a bit like saying you hate the internet because some people use the internet to do very harmful things.
