  • Don’t.

Remove people who regularly insult you ("haha, it was just a joke, can’t you take anything?) from your life. They will suck your soul out in the long run. If you can’t avoid dealing with them keep it very formal.

You can prepare a few stock answers for them (to repeat whenever you need them), something like “That was disrespectful, please stop it”. (In your own words) You also might want to read up on setting and enforcing boundaries and red lines.

To train your spontaneity try improv workshops, but that’s something you do with people whom you feel safe with, who do respect you.

You are not the only one whom they use as the butt of their jokes, so just hang around with people who are better for you. People who are making hurtful “jokes” are simply disrespectful. You can’t change that by lowering yourself to their level and bitching back.

And build your creativity having fun, not fighting back. The idiots are not worthy of your time, of what you think, of what you do.

  • It’s totally irrelevant if it’s all USians or just a few of them. The US is a inherently unstable country, winner takes it all. When people elect a less idiotic president, it will just take a few years until the next Trump-Level guy wins again.

Also the republican presidents I experienced in my life got more unhinged every cycle, Regan, old Bush, young Bush, Trump. Who will be next one? One day there will be another Republican president.

The only way out would be a fundamental refactoring to not be a failing democracy.

Pigs will fly through a freezing hell before that happens. So the only rational thing is to understand the empire fell, the King has no clothes and keep a wide berth around the US in all future dealings.

  • It’s an old FritzBox where I turned off wifi etc and just use for VOIP - Pots. When I set it up a some time ago it was EUR 15 or so on ebay, as these old FritzBoxes have no other modern use. They put out “just” enough juice to ring the phone. Ringing is softer than what I know from. my childhood, though.

Pulse dialing works, but you can’t pause while dialing as it interprets a pause as “now connect the call”. (Real POTS had “incremental” dialing)

I have these phones for fun, but if I’d need to use them I’d probably buy a new dedicated voip adapter (EUR 150+).

Old FritzBox routers are cheap here, that’s why I use them.

  • The most common routers here in Germany have POTS connectors and convert that to VOIP internally. At least for POTS with DTMF. I keep one specific router around that even still supports pulse dialing as I have two rotary phones from the 1950s and 1970s still hooked up for fun. (They work, except for the fact that nobody knows the number of my land line)

When the biggest provider in Germany switched from POTS and ISDN to VOIP there was also a number of solutions available for bigger installations, so you could keep your POTS installation while the adapter does the VOIP conversion.

So all in all switching worked mostly fine.

  • It’s not about US made parts, its about depending on servers running in the US running all the software, ready to be turned off at any time.

And for nuclear sharing we should go French or British. The US are notoriouly unreliable and have proven not to be a partner anymore.

Yeah, we all saw the amazing US victory in Iran. One more reason not to partner up with the US.

In the end the F35 is a tool for bullying other nations with the tools of yesteryear, not something for modern conflict. “Put all your eggs into one overpowered basket” ist not the way to fight wars anymore, as the US is learning in Iran. Numerous and cheap is what counts.

I give you the thing about Eurofighter. I just believe the F35 is completely the wrong tool for the future. Maintenance heavy, ongoing support dependent, expensive, hard to replace. All it’s cool features can’t make up for its shortcomings.

    It’s a classical Wunderwaffe.

What we need is something simple, defense oriented and not attack oriented.

  • The Gripen flies, the F35 is parked in a maintenance shack. Or parked forever if the US decides they don’t like you anymore and to turn off all the software defined shit.

My country (Germany) planning to buy F35 instead of Gripens boggles my mind, it’s just dumb in the current political climate.

We can see that Ukraine fucking F16s make a huge difference - all the buzzwords buy you nothing, what you need is airplanes that actually are in the air.
