Oh, but that second part is not true at all. I develop exclusively in vim and use git cli. Outside of work, most of my servers are headless; I primarily use my Linux desktop and laptop for connecting to those systems. The only times I regularly, willingly interact with the GUI are gaming and web browsing. And messaging, I guess, but even for that I used to use screen and irssi where possible. The only non Linux systems on my network are my wife’s work computer, my work computer, and a few IoT devices which are all on an SSID with guest isolation.

I’m not trying to brag - I never said I’m good at any of the above - I just prefer the keyboard to the mouse.

Also, you can put Graphene (and other ROM’s) on some Android phones, soon more.

That’s from Doctor Who. In case you’re not familiar, the Doctor - here portrayed by Matt Smith - is an alien super genius who’s also a bit daft. There’s loads more to the character, but if you really aren’t familiar, I wouldn’t want to deprive you of the fun of discovering it.

One thing to note: the Doctor has been played by many actors over many, many years. Personally, Matt Smith is my favorite, but all of the ones I’ve watched have had something to enjoy about them. All of them portray the character differently, so the tone of the show does change somewhat depending on where you start.

I haven’t seen many of the older actors, nor either of the more recent two, so I can’t recommend for or against them.

Where I grew up wasn’t the city, but neither was it very rural. Still, during the summers I could look at my neighbor’s yard and see what seemed like a field of blinking fireflies. We went out and caught some of them a few times, and with no major difficulties because they were so multitudinous.

Admittedly I haven’t been to that house in years, but still - other than the one in my story above, I don’t remember the last time I saw one in person.

Reading Al talk about AI was briefly confusing.

I have to keep my window a little bit open because I use a window AC unit. Unfortunately, the build quality isn’t great and the unit is old, so there are small gaps around it. Unsurprisingly, bugs get in and, I guess because I live in a fairly rural area, the diversity is kind of impressive. I would be very surprised if nothing had climbed on me in my sleep. Just a few days ago I was laying in bed reading and a moth tried to fly straight up my nose, then into my eye. I don’t think either of us enjoyed the experience.

A week or two ago, I got an irritated spot on one of my eyes. I don’t know what caused it; maybe it was another moth. Anyway, I kept track of it but didn’t worry too much because there were no other symptoms. Then, one late night or early morning, I was trying to sleep but having no luck. As I laid with my eyes closed, I kept seeing flashes, but when I’d open my eyes there would be nothing flashing.

I was worried that my eye irritation had finally come to fruition and my retinas were detaching or something. That didn’t help with the insomnia … Eventually, though, I happened to open my eyes just as a lightning bug (or firefly or whatever your region calls them) flew right past my nose, blinking merrily.

That was a relief!

I don’t make a habit of lying. In fact, I avoid it where possible; I have for most of my life and was honest to a fault as a kid. I can remember two times I lied to my parents: once I took a dollar off the top of my brother’s allowance. The other time I was speeding and crashed through a fence, then told my parents I swerved to avoid a deer.

I told both of those to my dad one year and he said “I don’t think I want to hear any more confessions.” Which is good, because I had none.
