Not only is this not relevant but that’s also not what I was doing nor is it my position.

If you’re going to attack me then you should at least make sure you understand my actual position first.

It is relevant. It’s the lens that you use to analyze the world. Your deterministic worldview makes everything permissible on the grounds of “material interests.” But it’s exactly like liberalism since it always comes with an exclusionary clause. So a person can do anything to improve their material conditions at the expense of others. Morality is then completely gone.

You would need to read Losurdo’s book on liberalism to understand the inherent exclusionary clause of liberalism, which is the dominant ideology of the West. It infects materialist thinking, including yours and mine. It’s something you have to consciously fight on a daily basis.

Let’s go back to the beginning: you accused comrades making jokes about Western powers being sympathetic to fascism of being Trotskyists. When I pointed out that this was silly you basically called me a liberal and insinuated I was pro-US imperialism.

I don’t think it’s me who needs to self-crit here.

They did explain. You’re reading too much into a joke. A joke that is entirely rooted in hindsight. We all understand that the material conditions were such that this was not an option. That after losing 27 million of its people, the soviets were desperate for the opportunity to have peaceful development. It sure would be nice to not have to deal with the 4th Reich’s rise to power right now though.
