We are languishing in 10th, 8 points behind ‘struggling’ Man United. Defense is leaking goals, attack is largely misfiring and players are losing discipline.

The mentality has also become like that of a mid-table team. Nothing in and around the club screams world class at the moment.

I just don’t find many differences between Chelsea and say, Crystal Palace (apart from the wages and all). As fans, should we also have a mid-table mindset? Satisfied with draws against the big boys and finishing the season with 45-50 points?

I’d say no. Yes, literally, you are mid-table right now (and have been for a while and could still be for a while) but being a mid-table club would mean a smaller fanbase, a smaller stadium, less cash in and less cash out, less attractiveness for new signings, fewer big names etc. And to your last point, no. Chelsea fans and indeed players and employees will not be satisfied with mid-table-like football results: it is a massive under-performance.

Chelsea fans, more importantly the board needs to be patient. I think they’ve got a nice roster with talented young players and Poch is a solid manager.

They should make sure their players continue to develop and form their chemistry. Next year with a signing like Osimhen, Chelsea should be good enough to compete for higher positions again.

Talent wise? No. That’s evident in our spending and realistically you see it when you watch Chelsea play right now. They will have top level teams chasing them at times with the level of talent in the squad and can compete with the best in the league at their best. Consistency is the issue right now, which is to be expected when you have you have the youngest squad in the league. If these guys reach a point where they can play at their best every week, it is definitely not a mid table team.

I dont knowv why people assume big money = success! Many players has proven that is not true! It’s character, personality and hard-work that makes a great player! To me all of this is bad business. It’s like believing an advertisment about some novel drug without reading the fine print! If it was up to us (the fans), we would reject most of these big money businesses! I’d also, give the final decision on who to recruit to the head coach!

I really hope we will click and stay consistent at some point! The league is definitely much mire difficult this season. There are only 4 points between 1st and 5th.

We should give the League and FA Cup our all now and hope for the best in the league!

Firmly. They have 16 points from a possible 39, and look who’ve they’ve beaten - Luton, Fulham, and Burnley. Yes they beat Spurs who completely imploded, and pulled off dogged draws against Liverpool, Arsenal, and City, but those look like outliers compared to their other performances.

So much criticism has been launched at United who are 8 points clear of Chelsea, but United are playing in the CL, they aren’t doing well in that competition but they’ve had a similarly horrible injury crisis to navigate as Chelsea while playing mid week and are in a respectable position.

I’m stunned that Chelsea, having finished 12th last season, squandered their soft opening schedule. Obviously we still have a little over 2/3 of the season left but do Chelsea look like they can overcome a now 12 point gap between them and Villa? There might be 5 CL spots this season but I don’t see Chelsea challenging for one.

Lets get something straight, we where the better team against liverpool and arsenal.

Tottenham was pretty dominant first 17 min, but between 17 and 37 chelsea where dominating 11-11.

As for quality of play chelsea are 3rd in possession, 2nd in big chances created, 4-6th in xg-points.

There has been more outliers against in terms of results then for chelsea.

Only teams that created more quality chances then chelsea was brentford and newcastle (that includes 5 preason games)

Chelseas issue is mentality and clinicality, same arsenal been suffering from over a decade (and the main reason I see liverpool like a more likly titlecandidate then arsenal.

That beeing said, chelsea is a good example why to much change aint good for you.

If they ran the takeover properly (sporting people in before 400m spent) and do change over 3 years instead of 18 months.

On current form sure, but they’re not too dissimilar to us. There are a lot of games that could go either way, in United’s case we’ve been unlucky to lose some and very lucky to win others. Chelsea have had some decent enough chances and just not clicked, in saying that they have a newish manager and a young team so I’d not be that worried about this season.

This season, yeah. We have an average squad age of like, 12. You can’t expect them to win titles when they haven’t played in the prem much.

    Right now? Yes, absolutely.

A year from now? Should be a top-half of the table team… maybe top 6.

Fans need to realign expectations, yes. From 1989-90 until 2002-03 they finished 11th or below 5/14 seasons, and 5th or below 11/14 seasons. Then Roman’s dirty money came in and bought the league for a long time. I’m not saying that previous period is what should be accepted or acceptable, but expecting top 4 every year just because you are Chelsea isn’t realistic.

Liverpool finished outside of the top 4 in 7 out of 8 seasons more recently. Arsenal had a run of 6 straight. Man United not quite as bad, but missed it in 4 out of 7 seasons. The reality is that clubs need to reset and rebuild sometimes, and that takes time. This isn’t La Liga where Barca and Real are guaranteed top 3 every year.

As a Chelsea fan I expect us to be back, and it’ll take time. We will have periods of promise and moments where we are off the boil.

Season 1 without Abramovich = 12th. Season 2 = mid table. If they don’t do anything next season then it is well and truly over and they have returned to factory settings
