Alright so I am a new British NFL fan after loving Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast so when picking a team to support I keep gravitating towards the raiders. Probably coz of the badass stadium and name and the great history ( I just love the idea of winning with a bunch of unwanted players ). But it looks like the Raiders aren’t exactly great right now so I’m just wondering if I should just take the easy route and support someone like the eagles or the chiefs. Note that I am a Manchester United fan and if you know we are kinda shit rn (fuck the glazers) and I kinda want to support a team that doesn’t just give me misery. But I just keep coming back to the raiders. What should I do ?

American, Raider/Red Devil. Glazers out. The pain here is glorious. You learn to love it, to cherish it. It comforts you on those lonely Sunday evenings in January when we’re not in the playoffs. If you’ve survived the 20 years of those Glazer cunts, you’ll be just fine here. And our owner nor head coach has any interest in race horses (as far as I know).

I picked the Raiders (~2011) because they weren’t very good. Gotta earn it you know.

Also objectively the best colours in all of sports.

Deciding to pick a team because they’re really good at the moment is the worst thing you can do. The best thing about being a Raiders fan right now is the fact that the wins feel sweeter. Because they’re not expected. They are anticipated and hoped for, but never expected. You see a really good play and think “wow, that was a good ass play.” you’ll want to get up and scream and cheer. And I sleep comfy at night because I know that we will eventually have our time in the limelight. It will be in my lifetime. I know it.

Parity is a big part of America sports. . Without regulation, you’ll never have to worry about your team being multiple years away from even playing at the top level. You also don’t have petro states bankrolled teams, so everyone can compete every year. The Bengals were crap for years until they made a few good draft picks and hired the right coach. Note that the Bengals ownership has never been all that interested in winning and his super cheap. Now consider the Raiders. Yes we suck now, but our owner is OBSESSED with winning. Often to a fault. The Davis’s didn’t come from money and didn’t buy the team to diversify. Their whole existence is Raiders. We’ll be on top again, and when we are you’ll be proud that you get to wear the coolest uni in all of sports.

Last thing…the Raiders are nomads. You don’t have to live in Vegas or Oakland or LA to be a Raider. I’m from Ohio. Whoever you are, you’re welcome here.

Anyone telling you you’re bandwagon fan is not a real fan.

Ain’t no way you can bandwagon a shitty team.

Raiders are by far top 3 shittiest teams to exist in the nfl

I’m 25 born a raiders fan and I have no memory of a raiders playoff win. If you choose the raiders, there is no turning back.

You won’t ever be bored being a fan of the Raiders. The last 5 years have been filled with so much drama. Not to mention all the historical drama of “Al Davis vs Commissioner / NFL” and the “Raiders vs the Referees”. But right now it’s “Raiders vs Everyone” - and who doesn’t like rooting for an underdog.

Not to mention the logo and color scheme is the most badass in sports. Everyone looks good in black.

As a new fan, just watch the nfl until you start rooting for a team week after week naturally. You don’t have to commit right away

Also, don’t be a raiders fan. Don’t do that to yourself

The modern NFL wouldn’t be what it is without the Raiders franchise. I have a ton of admiration for the franchise’s stances on equality and the treatment of players. The players and fans never seem to lack passion. No matter what other chiefs fans say, I never count a game versus the Raiders as an easy or guaranteed win.

I dislike that the franchise moved away from Oakland. Every professional sports team has some fans that are insufferable and don’t well represent the majority of other fans. I also have voraciously cheered against the Raiders for over 30 years because I’m a Chief’s fan.

Look up some articles about Al Davis. That dude was legendary and set the tone, in my opinion, that has stuck with Raider Nation well after his passing. What he and Hunt accomplished with the AFL and their influence on the modern NFL is impressive.

Just don’t pick the Donkeys. Chargers will charger, so prepare for pain if you land there. Cowboys have the largest fan base. My NFC team I’ve always rooted for since '93 is the Saints, so what do I know anyways?

What the fuck? If you’re considering the chiefs you can’t be a Raider fan anyway. I bid you adieu
