Hardly what most people consider when mentioning b&o. But yes, we have bespoked b&o store where I live. They sound good, but not 800.000kr great. For that sum I’d get a set of r8 arrete and an aavik amp. Even cheaper speakers leave it far behind in terms of sound quality. It’s purely a design feature for people pretending to care about sound quality.

Those brands you mentioned aren’t bad, just not “highest quality“ as you said in the title. Most people would be perfectly happy with B&W, PMC and Kef. Even Klipsch make some good speakers. It was the fact you said highest quality which made it amusing.

Ohhh i get it, i just see them as well-known brands that make really good speakers. My original categorization had people very upset (b&o top tier, pmc as an other)

Highest quality/value… probably no brand you’ve heard of. PMC and some Harman products are probably the pinnacle of the production pro audio. Rest of that stuff is consumer low to upper middle tier.

well…it depends on what you consider a great product. Sonos makes a great soundbar, but I wouldnt use it for a HiFi system, so I dont know what your post is really trying to get at – who makes good stuff within their category, or who make the best stuff?

Personal favorites include Dynaudio, Harbeth, ProAc, Sonus Faber, and Vandersteen for speakers.

And Audio Research, Chord, and Pass Labs for electronics.

I’m always surprised by this kind of thinking. Every “brand” of multinational size will have multiple lines to meet the needs of different markets both geographically and economically. Many (including me) love the Sony ES and QS product lines, but they’ve produced some utter garbage too. Most speaker manufacturers are the same- JBL ‘makes’ everything from Bluetooth speakers up to the high-end hifi stuff, it’s different design teams, specifications, and manufacturing facilities.

The companies that focus on the science and engineering are the ones that make the highest quality products. The ones that don’t are just selling a dream and an aesthetic.
