Bit of an explanation as to what prompted me to make this post: I recently played through Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 1 and 2 and I just felt off. I’ve slaughtered hundreds of innocents for my amusement in games like Fallout and TES, I play through No Russian with a grin, but for some reason, I refrain from killing bad guys in SGW? The first one has you hunt down Russian oligarchs and war criminals, while the second one is about Middle Eastern terrorists and this is the game where I feel bad about killing? There’s just something about the soldiers talking about their daily problems like making no money, uncomfortable boots and sweating too much, or showing eachother pictures of their dogs, not to mention the absolute horror when you’ve got a knife against their throat or when they find a body. I hope this isn’t weird, but I’ve never experienced remorse for killing a video game enemy, and I’ve played a lot of different games. I’d like to hear about your experiences, and which games do a good job humanising common enemies, the concept intrigues me.

that bit was just insane, it was unnecessarily cruel and just based on a random hunch… what they did there made me realize that the parents are both extremely dangerous psychopaths who deserve each other

“No choice” is a bit of a strong word… They kinda just assumed that making their daughter cry would reverse the curse and just went all in on it.

That has to be one of the most fucked up scenes I’ve ever played through. Almost quit playing right there.

My Gf couldnt do it too. I remember looking back at her because her character wasnt moving, and she was with eyes all red about to cry saying: “I dont wanna play this anymore”. I had a good laugh, but that scene is pure evil

I played this with my then 8 year old daughter as we just skipped all the story stuff and wanted to play something together and holy shit that really upset us, I felt horrible afterwards and she never wanted to play again it’s brutal.

Vacuum scene is why we didn’t trust the game to not do some messed up thing later, so we stopped playing. Now I know we were right.

Aw, you should play it through. It was my pick for GotY and definitely the number one game my wife and I have ever played together. It really is a blast. It’s just also… ^kinda ^fucked ^up

They marketed the game as an adventure rom-com but what we got was a fairly dark marriage reconciliation game.

My husband and I spent that entire section groaning, “Nooooo” while our 7 year old son watched, completely horrified.

My wife and i got 3-4 missions into this game. It plays so well, but why make a couples game about divorce?? Lol

We will never finish it. As confident as she is and as good as we are, willingly doing anything specifically around divorce is a no go. It should totally have just been about saving the girl.
