I’m a big fan of Safari and how seamlessly it works with all my Apple devices, but these ads are pushing me to the edge. I can’t even get through an article without being interrupted by some ad or another. It’s super annoying.
I’ve looked up older threads on this, and I’m choosing between two adblockers rn - Stop the Madness and Magic Lasso. They both seem like they could be a solution, but I’m not sure which one to go for. Anything that stands out?
Are there other options I’m missing?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insights you guys can offer.
AdGuard works well for me. It also let me block ads in most apps. You can usually get a decent lifetime license for a bunch of devices (I believe 5) at StackSocial.
EDIT: Just checked, and yeah, really good deal running right now: https://www.stacksocial.com/sales/adguard-family-plan-lifetime-subscription
I use 1Blocker and it has been fantastic on my Mac and iPhone. I used the free version for 4-5 months before buying a year subscription for about $15.
I use wipr. Also works on Mac - no problems and no ads
Brave browser works well
DuckDuckGo ad blocker on macOS or Firefox focus for iOS both extensions
I have used AdGuard for years and it works great.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adguard-for-safari/id1440147259?mt=12Same for me, I pay for the pro version and it blocks all ads, including youtube ones, when using it in the browser.
Me too. I don’t think I ever see ads, except on YouTube
I use Wipr, seen it recommended here before and seems to work pretty well!
Seconded for Wipr
Interesting, I wonder why this over Brave browser?
Dumb question but does this work with Firefox? I swapped bc that’s what I use on desktop and I like it but I could use some more adblock
Firefox mobile can use addons. Downlaod ublock orgin
StopTheMadness is not an ad blocker, though it can auto-skip YouTube video ads.
I use the brave browser on my phone and ipad
I use Firefox Klar and integration with Safari activated. Pretty good to block ads.
AdGuard
Download Brave. It’s a browser, but works great and never has ads anywhere ever. Not on YouTube or anywhere else. If you really prefer the look and feel of Safari then one of the Adblockers others mention should work
adblock plus. simple install, simple operation, just remember to load it every so often so it updates the filter lists.
So for everyone here using AdBlock how do you get around a web page refusing to load since it detects an ad blocker?
A lot of them refuse my visit outright until I select “Turn Off Content Blockers”.
