Just curious what other people do. I always save and close my games before putting the deck in sleep mode. Not sure why exactly I’m just afraid something will go wrong.

Does anyone leave games open in sleep mode all the time? If so have you ever had any issues?

I just save i dont close the game because when i pick it back up i can start where i was. Save for sure though sometimes it crashes on start up from sleep or while its asleep. Usually when there is a system update or something.

The 3.5.x update on LCD, and now of course on OLED has solved so many of the sleep stability issues I had. I never had a game itself crash or fail to handle resuming from sleep, but prior to 3.5, the deck OS would not be responsive. So far on 3.5 sleep has worked beautifully, and Bluetooth audio automatically reconnects every time too. Tested with NoMansSky and Snow Runner so far numerous times for both. I commute via train daily, with a Train transfer mid commute and rely on that sleep function. 3.5 has so far solved all my issues in this use case.

One funny bug I think may still exist is that games left running while in sleep, count towards your steam play time. I have some absurd hours in a few games because of it. Looks like I played train sim 4 for 168hrs straight one week.

I almost never use sleep mode. Close the game, shut down the device. Because it drains battery too much in the sleep mode, or at least it used to do so in the early days.

Depends on how long I anticipate staying in sleep mode. If I’m gonna be putting the thing away for more than, say, 30 minutes? I’ll put in the effort to find a safe spot to save and I’ll close the game, but anything less and I’ll just suspend it.

Well, what is expected battery life when sleeping with a game running? Early on, the first few times I suspended while playing Dead Cells and 3-4+ hours of juice left, I think SD died in like a day. Is that expected sleep time?

Nope, I kinda feel like one of the selling points for me is game suspended PC games, closing the app first defeats the point of playing on a mobile device.

Uh. What’s the point of putting it in sleep mode if you are also closing the games dude? Powering on to the dashboard takes no time at all…

Just put my oled to sleep. Works fine so far. Had some audio artifacts occasionally on the led after waking up.

If I’m done for the session, yes. If it’s suddenly I need to step away the off to game menu you go and then sleep. Mostly because when I pick it up I might not want to play the same game and / or if I’m playing on PC as well then cloud sync doesn’t happen in game.

I don’t close my games. I just put the deck into sleep mode when I need to pause. I’ll save if I remember before putting the deck to sleep. I’ve only had an issue a few times, but closing and reopening the game fixes those for me. I also rarely reboot my deck.
