Plug in headphones into the headphone jack of your OLED steam deck. If you hear bad static or hum - it means something is wrong and you should submit a support ticket so Valve prioritizes finding a solution. This issue is very widespread

I’m experiencing this on the 1T oled with Sony ier-m9. So far I found two solutions.

    1. Using the apple usb-c adapter on the usb-c port solves the problem. The only down side is I won’t be able to charge while using my headphones.
    2. Using a 3.5mm impedance adapter can significantly reduce the noise as well.

yeah it just seems like interference, like on laptops. Don’t think an rma is going to fix anything

You did it, you finally made me find a flaw in my otherwise flawless LE. Opened a ticket. Hopefully it can be fixed in software as I don’t want to play the lottery with a replacement.

Turns out the OLED has a lot of QC issues. Guess the wise thing would be to wait for the next Limited Edition; as it should be a new revision

That’s not the point. If customers are going to spend $500+ for a brand new product like this - then at the very least everything should work and not be broken. A lot of people like the option of wired headphones

Hmm… my deck has been fine so far. I’ve been using headphones almost the entire time I’ve been playing.

Thanks for the PSA. Just received my 512 OLED and the constant static/hum is present using Apple EarPods.

The crackling is software caused, isn’t it? I’ve had crackling on my lcd model since the 3.5 stable update

That’s what I heard as well, but there seems to be mixed results in this thread so maybe it isn’t just a software problem for some.

    Don’t tell /u/p0pe_f0x

Dude can’t even handle people RMA for their dead pixels screen, he might just lose it knowing people will RMA for this issue

White noise is fairly common on nearly all electronic devices. It’s only on the high end where you start getting the expensive audio setups with low noise.

So far I tried with a pair of Sennheiser DT-880 Pros on my LE and 1tb OLED. No noise on either Deck.

I’ll try mine out and report status later. So, far I haven’t had to try the headphone jack yet. But this week give me a reason to lol
