Regardless if Ziegler would have got the players he wanted, or even got a handful of them, that wouldn’t have stopped McDouchecanoe from running this team back into darkness of being bottom feeders. I think the only saving grace here is the players, and maybe some coaches, giving Mark a wakeup call that things needed to drastically change.
I think Ziegler actually did okay. But he and McD were a package deal. Mark has to clean house
Anyone with a brain could see how fucking dogshit McDaniels was. My only issue with this is if he was against all of the bad decisions wouldnt Champ Kelly have gone to bat for him? Or Mark Davis have heard the conversations? Seems like him trying to distance himself from McDaniels hoping to work in the league again.
The Amy Trask defense.
“If the boss only listened to my 100% correct decisions.”
Yet Trask was never hired anywhere else. Hindsight Amy.
Ziegler is trying to land a spot elsewhere. Some friend of McDaniels.
Ah yes, like Rich Bisaccia, she was never hired anywhere else so that means she was actually shit at her job. 👌
Seems like we shouldn’t hire headstrong diva coaches, legit the same case 2 coaches in a row. At least the first one was getting results.
I know everyone is saying fuck Zieg but I thought he was fine, if I was fired I’d prob go and say all these hindsight 20/20 things too, but they seem like they are legit. I really wanted to keep Stidham, would’ve been cheap and I thought he’d be on a similar skill level as Jimmy.
Either way seems like we need a strong GM who can hire his coach and operate without being overruled
shoulda coulda woulda DIDNT
I’m torn on this article. Part of me thinks that Ziegler should have gotten a longer leash. That he had a great plan in place for the start of this regime:
-build up the trenches, build up the offensive and defensive lines.
-Kept Alec Ingold (still hurts)
-have a balanced roster in terms of salary cap
-bring back Stidham and sign Jacoby Brissett
-trade up to get CJ STROUD
Then part of me thinks…you are the General Manager, you have a good relationship with the owner…you make the decisions, not the coach.
Part of me wonders how much this is just Ziegler or his camp trying to separate him from the beyond dead horse of Josh McDaniels. I think we all know he’s never getting a HCing job ever again in the NFL, and might have a problem getting a coaching job outside of N.E
Still, lot of this makes me sad. Even looking at it from Josh’s perspective. Being terrified to fail just ensures that you do
It is what it is at this point. But the entire situation just makes me sad
Zeigler was also still inexperienced as a GM, wanting to move up to 2 in the draft and actually getting it done are two different things.
It’s an interesting read and some of it rings true, but it’s so stupidly biased and editorialized it’s hard to take seriously. Also, it’s too little too late
