Hello everyone,

I would like some advice on if i should switch over to the penguin or not, since i mainly play games, my worry here is, if i wont be able to play my vr games anymore due to me using the virtual desktop streamer, i also play one android game on my pc, i dont really play alot of competitive online games. i also have a nvidia gpu, ive heard things about it how amd is just better if it comes to linux.

would it be a good idea?

if so please let me know in the comments.

thank you in advance

Rather than trying this “Linux” thing, why don’t you try out OpenBSD. It is a complete operating system. What you’re referring to as “Linux” is actually GNU/Linux, or as I have started calling it recently, GNU + Linux. You see, Linux is just a kernel, which must be paired with the GNU utilities to make a full fledged OS.

It is not a one way trip, you can always go back if you don’t like it, no need to overthink, just act, let’s face one thing at a time, good puck

You can still play your android game on your PC. Just use scrcpy and it will mirror any android device to your PC. No need to worry about an emulator crashing or lagging.

You should try Linux! Play around with it, see how it works, learn some new stuff. (Just setup dual boot, it’s easy)

“Switching” would be a much much later step anyway.

If you happen to have an spare SSD, go ahead and try it, it’s free! If Linux doesn’t work for you, just swap to your Windows disk and continue using your PC like nothing happened.

    Hi.
I don’t have VR, but I hear support’s not great for it.
I switched to Mint last year, and Steam games run out of the box.
Star citizen, Guild Wars 2, Starcraft 2 also runs well.
Keep in mind that for Steam(and other games) you will probably need to format a HDD from NTFS to ext4.
I recommend installing a xanmod custom kernel.
I mainly had issues with other launchers, Unoplay and EA Origin mostly.

    it just matter of time
Many vendors open source their VR drivers
And many games has native linux version
about android we don’t use Emulators instead Compatibility layer like (waydroid/wine)
For now just use windows if you do only gaming.
