I tried posting this in r/audiophiles originally but the bot deleted it.
Alright, to try and explain what I am chasing: Around a year ago I went to the piano room at my local community college (my stepdad was the choir director at the time) and played an electric piano. The headphones were AKG K240’s and when I played the piano it sounded like I had the piano noise coming from outside the headphones, it was surreal. I took the headphones off and played without them, nope, the sound was from the headphones. I put them back on again and sure enough it was the same feeling.
I’ve been trying to chase this feeling in my music since then, I bought a pair of beyerdynamics dt990 pro 250 ohms and a soundcard for my PC. Ive spent hours upon hours looking online and the closest thing I could find was the bineural audio thing but it didn’t have the same effect.
I think it might be something with soundstage but I’m not sure. No songs seem to have the effect and I have given up self research.
Any help in the right direction is appreciated, even if I have to program an EQ setting onto my soundcard.
Look up the model of the keyboard they were using. Then get that keyboard.
If you like the k240 try the K702.

You’re just describing soundstage and imaging. Get some open back Hifimans or an HD800.
