Pretty ignorant about building my own PC as I’ve always upgraded with pre-builts. Looking to upgrade myself instead of dropping more than I need to on a prebuilt again as I’m fond of my case and have a tight budget. My system has been a solid little unit for the last 5 years but is definitely starting to show its age. Starfield is upon me and as I’ve been stoked to play it, sadly my PC is ‘under recommended specs’. I’m sure It would run it with lowered settings but I would rather strike while the anvil is hot and upgrade while I have a reason to.
MOBO: Asus Prime z370-p
RAM: 32 GB Vengeance 3200MHz
CPU: Intel i5-8600k
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
SSD: Samsung 980 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 2TB
HDD: WD4005FZBX 4TB / Toshiba DTO1ACA200 2TB
I’m pretty certain CPU/GPU overhaul would be my best bet and I’ve looked at a few i7s/3060 cards, but don’t exactly know where to start or what is compatible with my board. I assume those upgrades would lead to an upgrade of the cooler/power supply as well?
Any advice/recommendations are welcome.
