Trying to move a site over to more Ubiquiti stuff off of very dated Ruckus gear and I’m seeing lots of mixed messages about Hotspot 2.0 support in this gear.
I have one list (probably older) that lists some non-U6 devices as the only ones that support it, is that correct or no? Looking at the tech specs on Ubiquiti’s site, it’s just not mentioned.
I’m running a local controller (7.4.x) and where the “Hotspot 2.0” tab is supposed to be it’s just… missing. Same question - should there be support for Hotspot 2.0 there or was it removed (apparently it’s in 7.3.x)? I’ve looked for it both with the new and legacy UIs enabled and I just don’t see it. The announcement today of the 7.5.x controller also has no mention of Hotspot 2.0.
Should I just sort of assume this is a feature they’re abandoning?
Any alternatives for any sort of captive portal login for radius-backed auth? I always find the captive portal stuff to be really janky - hit and miss if the user actually makes it to a prompt - feels like something that never really got rethought after every website went https, making it impossible to hijack a user’s session for a seamless redirect to a portal…
