Too bad Ireland has never had the foresight to consider building trains and public transit. It’s really the ideal size for it.
Making everyone automotive dependent was a choice. Many small villages in Spain even have train stations (for dubious rider numbers…)
Nearly all of the Dublin suburbs within the motorway loop are <45min cycling to the Dublin center.
Automotive dependence is expensive. The public pays for the private car, the gas, and the roadways. It’s not the best choice.
