Poirier flags a tendency to ignore experts’ warnings and prioritise the short-term interests of France’s influential farming lobbies, often to the detriment of farmers themselves, who are most exposed to pesticides and other toxic substances.
FNSEA, the dominant farmers lobby, has failed farmers in a big way. It keeps putting litteral roadbloacks against the move toward more sustainable agriculture. Farmers are then suffering, both physically due to toxic chemicals, and emotionally as public opinion is blaming them for polluting.
