Have u read her books? I am right now & im absolutely amazed, so i contacted her agent: i wanna interview her for my small SF blog:
If u love her & have good questions to ask her, please answer in the comments.
I’ve only read Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and while enjoyed it, I was not compelled to read on. It’s cute, kinda vanilla comparative to much of what I enjoy.
Yeah, ive lurked a bit here & there (R*ddit, Amazon etc), it seems that peeps either love her or dont give a shit.
“Don’t give a shit” is a rather harsh phrasing. I’ve read three of her stories and also enjoyed them, but didn’t find them too compelling. And that’s fine; not every book or author is a perfect match for everyone, and not every genre perfectly translates for all readers.
I definitely see the appeal of her work, and I’m grateful for her contributions to the general SF/fantasy genres. I like that more “cozy” works like hers exist, and are popular. But also, it’s just not the kind of reading I’m into, and so be it.
Yeah true.
Its so damn cozy lol. Love it.
Becky Chambers is one of my favorites! I love the monk and Robot duo and Wayferers is great for road trips.
Awesome. Please tell me more! What do u enjoy when u read her?
I just feel like she has a real grasp on what it’s like to be human even when writing as a robot or and alien. They are mostly cozy stories about navigating life and self discovery, and I think it really helps process how complicated the world is. Plus the sci-fi solar punk stuff is really cool.
I just feel relaxed and warm reading her work.
Thx! I fully agree. If she accepts the itw, ill def talk about that with her.
