there is definitely a difference between the two, I don’t know any parents that romantically love their children

This (and perhaps it is indicated by the delivery mechanism being a meme) is a joke, predicated on the lacking English verbiage for succinctly describing types of love. It’s all just “love”.

This instance (and perhaps even the original image) are not funny. I’ve more seen it used as a joke.

perhaps the meme isn’t the joke, but the reaction.

          I’m certainly laughing.

Take away sex and sexual tension and there isn’t much difference. just amount of love. and yhea, it’s different, but every relationship is different

I would say romance is distinct from love. I have friends I love as much as any romantic partners I’ve had and I’ve had romantic relationships where we really didn’t care much for each other beyond sex.

maybe I’m aro and haven’t come to terms with it, not 100% agreeing, but won’t die on this hill.

Yeah that’s just my opinion, very possible that my approach to relationships is just fucked up somehow but it is what it is. I’d love to hear other perspectives because romantic relationships are something I’ve always struggled with.

Except if you’re in a stereotypical boomer marriage, that’s a hallway going to a genuinely different place

(That place is just “wife bad” jokes)
