Hey everyone,
my friend and I are planning a trip somewhere between October 10th and November 15th (we’re thinking about 3–4 weeks) and we want to visit Thailand and Malaysia. But we’re not sure if it’s better to combine both countries or if we should rather focus on just one and do it properly.
We’re both active and sporty, we don’t want a “just chill on the beach” vacation. We love nature, hikes, snorkeling, diving, outdoor activities, and of course, amazing food (this is probably our biggest priority). We’re looking for a mix of authentic local experiences, beautiful places, and maybe a bit of crazy city life too (Bangkok is on the list, and probably Kuala Lumpur as well).
Diving is something we definitely want to do, but it’s not going to be the main focus. It’s more like a priority among others. We’re also tempted to check out a Full Moon Party, even though we’re not really party guys—but it feels like one of those “must do once in life” things.
We’re not into museums or heavy sightseeing tours. Temples or cultural sites are fine if they are really worth it, but we’d rather spend time exploring nature and local street food than visiting too many monuments.
So I’m asking you guys:
Is it worth it to combine Thailand and Malaysia in this trip, or should we rather focus on one?
Any itinerary recommendations for that timeframe?
Best spots for hikes, diving/snorkeling, nature, and food?
Is October/November a good time weather-wise for these areas?
Any “hidden gems” or experiences we should not miss?
Also… is the Full Moon Party really worth it or is it overrated?
Any tips, personal experiences, or even rough itineraries would help a lot! Thanks in advance 🙏
