Almost every piece of information documented on the internet or used to train LLM is an approximation, or a simplification. Searching and LLM are very handy if you know exactly what you are looking for or you have some idea of what you don’t know, but if you don’t know what you don’t know, things can go sideways easily if you are looking for extremely specific guidance vs just goofing around.

This is why apprenticeships are a thing. You can’t learn everything from books or a classroom. It takes experiencing things and seeing what those approximations are and how they impact your decision making to help improve your trade. Even at that point, speaking to other experts is extremely useful. They can challenge your approach, or share how they do things where they are. Inevitably, some of those approximations are different.

In my work I talk to as many people as possible to solve a problem. Everyone’s observations and hunches are different. 99% of the time I don’t think they are lying to me, but two people can swear something totally different happened and it’s just because their assumptions were different, or their memory is slightly varied.

Other reasons are because I care about people in my life and I want to hear from them. I want to know what they are doing and how they are feeling. It brings me joy to talk to my partner and friends. They are very funny!
