Did acid once, this was my experience:

There were the typical effects like motion trails, moving patterns, etc, but honestly most of the effects were more tied to my emotional state than anything else.
When I was feeling good, things look brighter, a little blurrier, softer, maybe a little more wavy, and I felt happier and more confident.

But when I was feeling bad, things looked sharper, more intense, and with higher contrast. Small smudges on the wall would stand out, and I felt vulnerable like I was a little kid.

Sounds were more intense and louder, almost like they were coming out of my head.
Music was too intense for me at the peak, but it was great during the come down. It sounded really spatial like the music was all around me.

My emotions could easily be swayed by the most insignificant things, like the colour of a light, a gust of wind, etc…

It constantly felt like I was moving forward/progressing though. Something that made me ‘sad’ 20 seconds ago felt like it happened a long time ago.
Any current problems felt like they had already passed, because I’d already been on the rollercoaster of emotions processing them. It was like a “I’ve felt everything there is to feel about that, time to move on” sort of thing.

It doesn’t sound like you did acid. It sounds like you had some research chemical. Nbomes are dangerous if you take three hits, so probably not that. I’ve never seen LSZ or any of the 2Cs give the visuals you’re describing, so probably not those either. If you’re in the USA, all those were emergency scheduled, so it’s not really worth the effort to synthesize them anymore. I’d guess you got some new chem I haven’t heard of.

Acid is completely tasteless on the blotter; it should taste like just paper. Research chems taste bitter or metallic and burn slightly. As we used to say, “If it’s bitter, it’s a spitter.”

Real acid starts with a bit of a body high and some vasoconstriction. Then colors become more vibrant, I start to see tracers, then stuff starts to wiggle. At higher doses, the wiggles become colorful, then become their own entity entirely. The whole experience is very colorful, like seeing the world through a kaleidoscope.

You’ll start to feel it after about 30-45 minutes, come up for about an hour, then peak for 4-6 hours, then slowly come down over the next 4-6 hours.

Movies never seem to get it right, but those gifs that are created to freeze, glitch out, and then melt away look kinda close sometimes.

The most common thing I’ve seen others say they experience that I experienced the one time I did LSD was how it makes your vision streak. It’s like seeing the world as a video game with a low framerate and super intense motion blur turned on. Lights are brighter. I got kind of a wavy effect, just as when I’ve done shrooms, like seeing reflections on water, too.

I didn’t knowingly take the drugs, tho, so it freaked me out when it started affecting my vision. Panic attack while seeing what I was seeing made me feel like I was drowning.

I would like to try acid again, knowing I am gonna take a trip. It might be more fun that way.

Oh that’s a very good reason for me to never take it then! I get motion sickness so easy, if my framerate went down more I’d just be sick constantly!

Acid effects seem to heavily depend on the manufacturing process.

I was just talking to a former deadhead who went to about a hundred shows altogether and has done acid hundreds of times. He talked about all the different types of acid he had done and how different they were, and a lot of people I know have had fundamentally different acid experiences depending on the tab. For me and the people I know, though, acid more breaks reality than imparts general euphoria.

Mushrooms, cyanescens specifically, will give you that euphoria and togetherness and commune with nature. Setting is key. Calm surroundings, with someone you trust.

Setting is absolutely key. And not just being around people who you can trust, but people who can help you with your trip. As in keep you happy, safe, and fed. It makes all the difference.

    • I never understood how people take mushrooms as a party drug. I’m not talking about microdosing either. I feel like I need the exact opposite, social isolation (other than close ones) in a controlled environment- ideally nature. A rave on mushrooms sounds like the perfect environment for psychosis.

Whenever I take psylo, I cry for hours nonstop. It’s not sad devastating crying either, I just physically can’t stop my body from creating tears. I think it’s because it neutralizes my depression and my ADHD for some time. It’s like ripping a bandaid off my emotions. Anything resembling a face becomes terrifying. My dog’s stupid smile turned into the Cheshire Cat once.

ime alot of it is just mood/how comfortable you are in a given setting, at it’s core it’s just amplifying emotions/thoughts.

Thats fascinating, though IMHO the biggest differences between batches assuming they contain actual LSD-25 is dosage more than anything.

(There’s an argument to be had about the iso-LSD content which is inactive, which occurs from the LSD being exposed to UV.

Now a lot of what was called acid isn’t LSD, which maybe where the waters get muddied, (IIRC the famous bad brown acid was actually DOI at triple the recommended dose, which makes a lot of sense why people freaked out)

Mushrooms are very interesting to me, I have very nice trips with them, but little to no afterglow, whereas the electricity of the acid stays with me for a few days to a week or two later.

Though I will note that LSD is also the only one I’ve ever had a bad trip with.

That doesn’t sound like acid. On psychedelics you see bright colors and fractal shapes.

I’ve stopped taking acid for this reason. You can never guarantee what’s on the tab and whether it’s safe. If you can get locally grown magic mushrooms that’s way better.

If you can find a place to buy it, 4-ACO-DMT is legal to buy and own and it metabolizes directly into psilocyn (the same chemical psilocybin metabolizes into).

Of course, you should always use a test kit to verify your purchase.

The good thing about this chemical is that you can dose it out and know exactly what kind of experience you’ll have ahead of time. With homegrown stuff, you never can tell. One button cap might do nothing, or it might make you trip your fucking face off; no way to know which one until it’s already happening. Sometimes, that’s part of the fun. But sometimes, you just want a guaranteed chill time. Not every trip has to result in ego death, naw meen?

    Taking Woodstock (2009)
The seemingly bland or tacky artwork begins to shift, only subtly at first.
A certain level of apprehension sets in, and a soothing voice is called for to calm down.
More visual tricks; edges and straight lines begin to wiggle, physical sensation seems extra somehow, certain textures or patterns ‘pop out’ like a pop-up book, and it’s as if someone turned the saturation and brightness up everywhere.
Cultural rules begin to dissolve, “just don’t be an asshole” is the permeating vibe.
By the time he’s out the van, he’s in new clothes, and still hallucinating. The kids burning their IDs (selective service cards? draft notices?) aren’t given a second glance.
And then the hills and the crowd start to undulate like giant waves, and a nebula grows out of the stage. (Seeing wholesale fabricated hallucinations like this is rare. Typically it’s an existing visual that is severely distorted to the point that describing it results in scenes like this one.)

Overall, not a bad representation. Kinda lacking in fractals, but not bad.
It’s hard to convey what happens psychologically, and the way time distorts. As David Cross once said, “Two things go right out the window when one is tripping: time and money.” Both lose their meaning.

I agree with other comments, you had something other than LSD, not sure what.

Also, The Rum Diary (2011) has a decent tripping scene, toward the end IIRC.

In one trip I ended up telepathically communicating with a genet cat (a small wild mammal, it was actually there and I didn’t hallucinate it) and then losing all concept of language (which was a little scary) till waking up the next morning. In another trip I synesthesically saw/listened to a Pink Floyd album. I like mushrooms more even though they made me believe I would die on a few trips. Both acid and mushrooms are fungus-based psychedelics so I would say they work similarly, but found a better learning effect with Psilocybe, and also prefer using plants and mushrooms instead of extracts and synthetic compounds. I don’t take them for euphoria and don’t take them often, last time was 3 or 4 years ago, before that I didn’t touch them for 15+ years. I find that the wisdom (or advice) I receive in a mushroom trip can be useful but has to be taken with a grain of salt, a bit like when a friend who is not entirely aware of your situation gives you advice.

Are you sure you had acid? Was it bitter to taste and or make your tongue numb? If so you may have had nbome instead which was sold a lot as acid for a while.

The one time I had it it felt like the world was more some kind of film noir / vhs feeling downscaled version if itself and it had a more jittery nervous feel to it compared to acid.

Acid without fail always makes the world seem brighter and more colourful today. On small amounts it is just like you are having a really good, happy day. You don’t trip out or get any visuals as such but everything does seem a bit brighter and more vibrant and helps lend to that happy day feel.

Taking more and more increases these feelings for me as the dose gets higher you are more likely to zone out and see different visuals from trails, to patterns to anything really. Your eyes makes things out of the shapes it is seeing.

You can get into some heavy thought patterns but generally myself I’m very resiliant to falling into those traps for whatever reason so have never spiralled like I have seen some other people do.

Bear in mind as well even if you have real acid a tab isnt a measurement of dose. You can get tabs that are 20 micro grammes that are for micro dosing and you’d bare feel or 1000 micro grammes which is going to be a wild ride.

My favourite amounts are between 130 to 260 micro grammes

Definitely not an nbome if he took three tabs without problems. Nbomes have an exponential dose response curve. One hit gets you buzzed, two hits gets you tripping balls, three hits is enough to be very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.

The only time I did three hits of nbome, I legit thought I was gonna die. My heart rate was about 160-180 bpm for 2-3 hours, thudding against my chest harder than it ever had before or since, I was pouring sweat like I’d just gotten out of the pool, and the vasoconstriction was so intense, it was actually VERY painful. Honestly, the fact that I was so young and still in decent shape probably saved my life. If I took that dose today, I’d probably die of a heart attack.

It’s like, 90% mental, the psychedelic feeling so it’s quite difficult to explain. Of course in the movies and stuff you will see a lot of visual representation of what the trip is like, and also 90% of those are total fabrications. If you are wondering about visuals, you will usually see things like motion trails where if you wave your hand in front of your face you will see a trail left behind, like motion blur. That’s low level effects, after that things start to melt a little, your vision will be more colorful and things will twist and turn and undulate, the walls will look like they a breathing a bit, things will be be like it has a life of it’s own basically kind of like how it is in a cartoon. With mid to heavier doses you will start to see actual hallucinations which vary by user and mood and setting (which are incredibly important on a trip so keep that in mind if you are curious)

The mental effects, uhm. I guess I would say it just feels like everything comes together? Logic melts away a bit and you are left with pure feeling, you are in touch with yourself, problems that seemed big may seem small or problems that were small may seem bigger, things of importance are turned around. Sometimes I would say it feels like your mind having sex with itself towards the peak. Physical sensations are also amplified, so touch feels extraordinary, music pours out of the speakers like a breeze coming at your face. It seems like there would be a lot of confusion but there is also a profound sense of peace if you can hold on to it. It sounds like what you got what something else. I hope it was helpful

Was definitely more physical than mental, think it does something to your eyes, and I saw shadow ppl constantly in the corner of my eye, like a sillhouete behind me and others. Tbh every time other than the first was fairly minor, felt more like shrooms. (I don’t get visuals other than pincushioning on shrooms)

I wish i wouldn’t fear my inner demons so much that i never touched psychedelics. I’m pretty sure it would end in desaster, taking into account the amount of baggage i’m carrying. There’s also noone i could say i can really trust to watch over me.

I would disagree you need anyone watching you. Eat 1 gram of mushrooms and notice its like a couple glasses of wine.

Then eat 2 grams and its a bit, more.

Then eat 3 grams a month later and you might, if you are lucky, meet something or someone. It also helps with anxiety for weeks after.
