He was far from perfect - or, frankly, what I had hoped for - but this is such an over the top characterisation as to undermine any actual criticism in the piece.
I’m not an expert, but look, you say nonsense but don’t describe what’s false. Which suggests that the factual claims are all true…
Or perhaps your position is that yes he was a big fat liar but that’s OK. If so, no worries. But say that then.
“Fabricator and a fraud” is an extraordinary claim, and requires extraordinary evidence.
The paragraphs handwaving the EHRC report in to antisemitism - which did absolutely find the party as an organisation to have failed to tackle antisemitism under Corbyn’s leadership, as well as former leaders Miliband, Brown, Blair, etc - and trying to argue that Starmer describing as such was fabricated and/or fraudulent is false.
This is the problem with these sorts of things. Oborne isn’t wrong when he says that Starmer failed to meet the expectations that he himself set, but fraud requires purpose and intent, neither of which are clear.
And let’s be honest, the idea that Starmer and his team ran a competent conspiracy, whilst clearly demonstrating incompetence basically everywhere else, is a tad silly.
I worry what comes next might be worse
I had such high hopes for him - I never liked Corbyn and think he would make an awful prime minister, but I liked his policies, and Starmer was his home secretary; plus before entering politics he was a human rights lawyer so I thought he’d have some respect/desire for human rights. Then he dashed all my hopes and kept digging. He may have been the best prime minister in the past 14 years but I am not sorry to see him go and hope he will be forgotten, or at best used as a cautionary tale

I disagree, I think Starmer is a decent guy, more so than the Tory PMs we’ve had for a long time

Even if someone is more to the left than I am, is attacking Starmer so much really a good idea? If Labour fails over the next few years then the most likely consequence will be a Reform-led government.
It reminds me of people on the left refusing to vote for Kamala Harris in 2024 because they thought she was too pro-Israel. The consequence was Trump regaining the presidency, and Trump seems much more pro-Israel to me than Harris would have been.
