Most of their vehicles are manufactured by robots these days.
Heavy government subsidies to prop them up domestically and internationally until they could compete.
And their government has money for this because they subside things like that.

I mean, I feel like this statement is a bit Transformers-like, but I think the sentiment is in the fair place.
Get 50% (compelling number pulled from my arse), of a nation’s automotive stock under your control and simply bricking them would turn them into killing machines though suddenly stalling that nation’s ability to function.
