Let’s start with what I had during lunch on the last trip to a beachside town.

  • The main rice dish is fried rice with crab meat (well hidden inside but the flavour is there). There is an accompaniment of sliced cucumbers and spring onions with a slice of lime to be squeezed into the fried rice.
  • The top dish is squid stir fried with salted egg and vegs, a very common dish to eat near the sea here.
  • The largest dish is deep fried prawn cake. Not the best of its class, only doable. This must be dipped in the yellow plum sauce in a small serving on the right.

Sharing spoons are provided to put the food into one’s own plate for actual comsumption. We do not eat straight from the sharing platters to our mouths here (unless you are solo dining).

Not shown: Tom Yum Goong, because it is not that great.
