But, yes, TNG is definitely the try-hardest of the utopias. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I remember if we ran into a civilian, they were likely to be doing something highly technical with their careers.
Star Fleet especially, has been very competitive, though I kind have trouble seeing James Tiberius making it through Starfleet Academy in the TNG-era.
