Espionage is a capitol offence in China it was Canada holding Meng Wanzhou hostage at the behest of the Americans that spared them. Also I don’t think Canadians (or any other US satellite like the Europeans) get to decide who is “a benign member of the international community” after you helped the Americans rampage across the world committing non stop atrocities for the last 81 years.
