Ring video doorbells do exist in Europe, but they’re not very common. Apparently they are very common in the US, and they record video of things it sees. I think the legitimate use-case is to record if your packages (that are left by the door) are tampered with or stolen.
Just go take a walk in a couple of residential areas. You’ll see them fairly quickly.
I love these US centric responses. There is a world outside of the USA. I have never seen such a thing.
