Scientists hoping to catch a tiger by the gene trail are on the verge of creating a live thylacine before the 100th anniversary of the death of the last-known specimen famously filmed in a zoo.
I’ve heard the same thing dozens of times over the past 20 years, it never eventuates.
There’s a limited pool of money for environmentalist causes, all projects like this do is take that funding away from other projects that could prevent endangered species from going extinct.
Just cause a previous effort failed, doesn’t mean this one will too.
Just remember that the scientists are very knowledgeable, and most of the time, failures are due to funding, not effort.
I agree that founding of actual protection plans and doing them would be beneficial.
But thise efforts don’t make headlines. This might raise some awareness for the cause.
Tho I have no idea why you would want a tiger and not something more benign - like thise mini elephants.
