CIA: “Pilots from Saudi Arabia with ties to Iran and Pakistan working with an islamic extremist group planning attack on US via planes.”
Bush: “Yeah, ok, pal.”
CIA: “The hydroelectric tubes in Iraq look vaguely like missile fuselage sort of if you squint”
Bush: “Get Tillerson and Cheney in here! WERE GOING TO MESS UP MESOPATAMIA!”
Bush: “Yeah, I know, my dad had dinner with the bin Ladens last week, and we’re going to evacuate their family members from America when it happens.”
Really hate how much of history has been written, deliberately and otherwise, by the CIA.
The documents, which amount to more than 100 pages, show a steady stream of alarming but imprecise intelligence reports that bin Laden was preparing to attack the United States, either on U.S. soil or at embassies and U.S. military bases abroad. Many of them were heavily redacted.
But the documents included no major new revelations, as previous inquiries by Congress and accounts by officials in government at the time had made clear that the intelligence agencies were aware of the growing threat from Al Qaeda.
Remember when Clinton was ordering strikes against Al Qaeda and the Republicans were like “stop distracting the public from your blowjob” and then he warned Bush about the impending threat during the transition and Bush ignored it?
